Switching from AssetTiger

What actually changed

Until August 2026 AssetTiger had the most generous free tier in this category: 250 assets and two users, with no time limit. We said so publicly at the time, because it was true.

That plan is gone. Free users were emailed at the end of July and moved onto a 30-day trial on 1 August, with an offer of $110 in “Rewards Cash” — credit against labels from MyAssetTag, the label manufacturer that owns AssetTiger — plus 50% off the first year of the Basic plan. On 31 August, accounts that had not subscribed became view-only — the records are still visible, but you cannot work with them.

So the question has changed shape. You are no longer choosing between two free plans. You are deciding what to pay for, and where.

What is different on day one

• You are billed in pounds. We are a UK company and our prices are in £, so there is no currency conversion and no card charge that moves month to month.
• You add a tool by photographing it. Point your phone at it and the AI identifies it, then fills in the make, model and specifications for you to confirm. AssetTiger’s mobile add-asset flow is seven typed fields.
• You can design and print your own labels. A visual QR designer, batch printing to standard label sheets, and pre-printed sticker assignment — all included, with nothing to buy from us.
• There are jobs and projects. AssetTiger has sites, locations, categories, departments and customers, but no concept of a project. If you work job to job, that difference shows up immediately.
• Consumables come in the price. Quantities and consumables are part of the same plan, not a separate US$15/month product.
• You can quote and invoice from the same records. When we walked through AssetTiger in July 2026 we found nothing for quoting or invoicing anywhere in it — the one invoice it mentions is a supplier one you attach to an asset as a document.

When you should stay with AssetTiger

They are a capable system and there are real reasons to renew rather than move. Here they are, plainly, because you would find out anyway.

• You live in the reports. AssetTiger has more than sixty pre-built reports, a report builder and scheduled reports. We have exports and saved views, and better reporting is something we are working on rather than something we have.
• You need unusual custom fields. They offer fourteen field types including dropdowns, currency and GPS coordinates, scopeable per category. We offer six.
• You need permissions cut finely. Their security groups go down to individual operations. We ship five fixed roles — Owner, Admin, Member, Scanner, Viewer — which cover most working firms, but you cannot build your own combination.
• You track depreciation, contracts or insurance. Those are first-class records in AssetTiger. We have deliberately not built them.
• You have tens of thousands of assets. Their ladder goes to 250,000 on a published plan. Past 5,000 you would be talking to us about an Enterprise plan instead.
