Switching from AssetTiger

AssetTiger withdrew its free plan on 1 August 2026. If you were using it to keep a free register of your kit, that register is now read-only unless you subscribed. Here is what actually changed, how to move your data across, and where AssetTiger is still the better system.

What actually changed

Until August 2026 AssetTiger had the most generous free tier in this category: 250 assets and two users, with no time limit. We said so publicly at the time, because it was true.

That plan is gone. Free users were emailed at the end of July and moved onto a 30-day trial on 1 August, with an offer of $110 in “Rewards Cash” — credit against labels from MyAssetTag, the label manufacturer that owns AssetTiger — plus 50% off the first year of the Basic plan. On 31 August, accounts that had not subscribed became view-only — the records are still visible, but you cannot work with them.

So the question has changed shape. You are no longer choosing between two free plans. You are deciding what to pay for, and where.

Moving across, in four steps

The whole job is usually an afternoon, and most of it is us.

1. Get your data out first

Do this before anything else, whatever you decide. AssetTiger lets you export your records — take the export and keep the file. If you end up staying, you have lost nothing but ten minutes.

2. Open a free account here

Free Forever holds 100 assets, needs no card and has no countdown on it. Enough to load a van’s worth of kit and see whether you get on with it.

3. Bring the spreadsheet in

Import the CSV yourself — you match your own columns to ours and see a full preview before anything is saved. Or send us the file and we will do the whole thing by hand, free, on any paid plan: assets, locations, categories and clients.

4. Keep the labels on your kit

If your tools already carry AssetTiger tags, you do not have to re-label anything. Assign your existing pre-printed stickers to the matching assets. If you would rather print your own, our label designer and print queue are on every plan.

What is different on day one

When you should stay with AssetTiger

They are a capable system and there are real reasons to renew rather than move. Here they are, plainly, because you would find out anyway.

Send us the export and we’ll do the rest

Getting the data out of your current system is rarely the hard part. Getting it in somewhere else is what stops people — so we made that bit easy, and we will also just do it for you.

Our importer takes the file you already have, lets you match your own columns, and shows you a full preview before anything is saved. Or send us your export and we will import it by hand, free, on any paid plan — assets, locations, categories and clients. You don’t retype a single row.

Start free to look around first. If you subscribe, get in touch and we’ll move everything across.

This page is about moving. If you want the feature-by-feature detail, read Asset Giant vs AssetTiger, or see the full side-by-side comparison against six systems at once. Every plan and price is on our pricing page. Other systems we have written up are on the alternatives index.

Common questions

Is AssetTiger still free?

No. On 1 August 2026 the former free plan became a 30-day free trial, and on 31 August 2026 accounts that had not upgraded moved to view-only access. Their paid plans start at US$20/month for 500 assets. Checked on their own pricing page on 3 August 2026.

What happened to my data if I did not upgrade?

According to AssetTiger’s own notice, accounts that had not subscribed by 31 August 2026 moved to view-only. Your records stay visible but you cannot work with them as before. If you have not already taken an export, get a copy of your data out either way.

Will you import my AssetTiger export for me?

Yes. Import the CSV yourself in minutes — you map your own columns and see a preview before anything saves — or send us the file and we will load it by hand at no charge on any paid plan. Assets, locations, categories and clients.

Do I have to re-label all my tools?

No. You can assign the pre-printed stickers already on your kit to the matching assets, so the tags you have keep working. If you want new ones, the label designer and print queue are included on every plan and you print them yourself.

Is Asset Giant cheaper than AssetTiger?

At the entry tier they are close: AssetTiger Basic is US$20/month for 500 assets; our Crew plan is £19/month for 500 assets and three users. The difference is what is included — AI identification, label design and printing, projects and consumables are standard with us. At the very top of the range AssetTiger goes further on raw asset counts than we do.
