Moving From EZOfficeInventory to Asset Giant

How to export your assets from EZOfficeInventory (EZO) to CSV, import the file into Asset Giant, and map groups, locations, custody and custom fields to the right places.

Your asset list moves across as one CSV. EZO exports it from the screen you already use, Asset Giant reads it, and every item arrives with its make, model, serial, location and cost. On any paid plan, send us the file and we will do the whole thing for you.

Step 1: Export your assets from EZO

EZO’s own help says the export “to CSV” is available for “Assets, Asset Stock, Inventory, Users, Locations, Groups, Vendors, Members, Reports, Documents”, and that you export by clicking “the export button shown on the table headers” — with “the method is the same for all the areas mentioned above”.

  • Open your Assets listing page.
  • Add the columns you want to keep to the table first, if they are not already shown — the export follows the table.
  • Click the export button on the table headers.
  • Save the CSV file.

Take a copy of Locations and Groups too if you want the full archive. You do not need them to get started: Asset Giant creates your locations, categories and folders from the asset file itself, on the preview, with a tick box each.

Checked on EZO’s own FAQ, September 2026.

Step 2: Bring the file into Asset Giant

Open Settings then Import and drop the file on the upload box. Nothing is saved until the preview. Full walkthrough: Importing Your Existing Spreadsheet.

Which column becomes which Asset Giant field

Your export follows the columns on your Assets table, so the headings are yours. The matching step shows real values from each column and recognises the common spellings itself:

Your column heading Becomes in Asset Giant
Name, Item, Description, Asset, Equipment, Device Asset Name — the only column you must map
Asset Identification Number, Asset Tag, Reference, Ref Asset ID (match only — never written over)
Group or Sub Group Category — a sub-category can be written as Parent > Child
Location Location
Manufacturer, Make, Brand Manufacturer
Model, Model No Model Number
Serial, Serial No, SN Serial Number
Purchased on, Purchase Date, Acquired Purchase Date
Cost, Price, Purchase Cost, Value Purchase Price
Vendor, Supplier Supplier
Quantity, Qty, Count Quantity
Checked out to, Out With, Custodian, Borrower Checked Out To
Due Back, Return By, Expected Return Due Back
Notes, Comments Notes
Your own EZO custom fields A custom field each, created from the spare column on the matching step

Two things worth knowing. EZO’s Groups and Sub Groups are the closest thing to our Categories, and both come across in one column if you write them as Parent > Child. And a column naming the person who has an item only becomes Assigned User if those people log in to Asset Giant — for anyone else, use Checked Out To, a Client, or a custom field. The matching step offers you all three.

What does not come across

  • Photographs and documents. The importer reads a spreadsheet. Add the pictures afterwards (Uploading and Managing Asset Photos), photograph the item and let the AI fill in the details, or send us the folder and we will attach them for you. Service sheets, manuals and certificates sit on the asset as files: Keep Receipts, Manuals and Certificates with the Asset.
  • Reservation, service and audit history. Historic records stay in your EZO export. What is out right now comes across through Checked Out To and Due Back; attach the export to an asset as a document to keep the old detail searchable, and Asset Giant keeps its own history from the day you import: See Who Changed an Asset, and When.
  • Carts, reservations and service tickets. Asset Giant books assets to a date range and to projects rather than through carts — see Reserving Assets for a Project, and bring the dates you already have over as bookings. A service that is due on a date is best held as a date custom field with a reminder on it, so you are told before it passes: Getting Alerts Before a Date Passes. Our side-by-side comparison with EZOfficeInventory sets out where they do more than we do.
  • EZO’s own asset numbers, as Asset IDs. Asset Giant generates Asset IDs from the format in Settings → Preferences, for example TOOL-000001, and an import never overwrites one. Map the old number so it can recognise items you already hold, and keep it in a custom field if your team searches by it.
  • Anything past your plan’s limits. The preview counts it for you before anything is written, and we will tell you which plan takes your list if you are near the line: What Happens When You Reach Your Asset Limit.

Anything on that list, we will sort out with you. On any paid plan our team does the manual part at no charge — loading photos and documents, and putting the EZO fields that have no obvious home into custom fields, folders or reminders that suit you. Send us the export and say what has to survive the move: How to Get Help and Support.

If it goes wrong, undo it

Every import can be undone for 7 days from Settings → Import. Created assets are deleted, changed assets are put back, and anything edited since is left alone and named in the result.

Would you rather we just did it?

On any paid plan, importing your spreadsheet is included — assets, locations, categories and clients, loaded by hand at no charge. Get in touch through How to Get Help and Support.
