AssetTiger withdrew its free plan on 1 August 2026. If you were using it to keep a free register of your kit, here is a straight comparison — including the things AssetTiger still does better than we do.

What actually changed
Until August 2026, AssetTiger offered a genuinely useful free tier: 250 assets and two users, with no time limit. It was the most generous free plan in this category, and we said so publicly.
That plan is gone. Existing free users were emailed at the end of July and moved onto a 30-day trial on 1 August, with an offer of $110 in “Rewards Cash” (credit against labels from MyAssetTag, AssetTiger’s parent company) and 50% off the first year of the Basic plan. On 31 August, accounts that have not subscribed become view-only.
It changes the question you are answering. You are no longer choosing between two free plans — you are deciding what to pay for, and where.
The short version
- We still have a free plan; they no longer do. Free Forever holds 100 assets, with no card and no countdown.
- £19/month for 500 assets and three users on our Crew plan, against $20/month for 500 assets on their Basic.
- Every one of our plans includes the AI — photo identification, spec auto-fill and the inventory assistant. Not a top-tier extra, not an add-on. AssetTiger has no AI at all.
- Every one of our plans prints your own QR labels — design them, batch-print them to standard sheets. AssetTiger does not offer a label designer; they sell you the labels instead.
- Consumables are included, where AssetTiger sells them as a separate $15/month product.

Where we are genuinely better
AI that works from a photograph
Point your phone at a tool and Asset Giant identifies it, then fills in the make, model and specifications. You can also ask your inventory questions in plain English. AssetTiger has no AI features at all — every asset is typed by hand. Their mobile add-asset flow is seven typed fields. Ours is a photograph.
Labels you design and print yourself
AssetTiger is owned by MyAssetTag.com, a physical label manufacturer — buying tags is a permanent item in their navigation. That shapes what they build. We include a visual label designer, a print queue for batch-printing to standard label sheets, and the option to assign pre-printed stickers. Design your labels this afternoon, print them tonight.
Jobs, projects and clients
AssetTiger has sites, locations, categories, departments and customers — but no concept of a project or job. If you work job to job, that matters. We treat projects and clients as first-class: assign kit to a job, see what is on which site, and share a client-facing page that shows only what you choose.
Consumables in the price
AssetTiger sells consumables as a separate “Inventory” product — two items free, $15/month for unlimited. We track quantities and consumables as part of the same plan, at no extra cost.
Built for a phone on a site
AssetTiger is a desktop-era product with a mobile app added later. Everything we do works in a mobile browser with nothing to install, designed for one hand and a gloved thumb — including the QR scanner and check-in/out.
Where AssetTiger is better than us
Plainly, because you will find this out anyway and it is better you hear it here.
- Reporting. They have a more advanced reporting system than ours, with a report builder and scheduled reports. We have exports and saved views today, and more advanced reporting is something we are actively working on.
- Custom fields. They offer fourteen field types, including dropdowns, currency and GPS coordinates, scopeable per category. We currently offer six.
- Permissions. Their security groups are granular down to individual operations. We ship five fixed roles — Owner, Admin, Member, Scanner, Viewer — which cover the cases a working firm actually has, but you cannot build your own combination the way you can there.
- Depreciation, contracts and insurance are first-class records in AssetTiger. We have chosen not to build those.
If those are the things you need, AssetTiger is a capable system and worth the subscription. We would rather tell you that than have you find out after switching.
Moving your data across? We’ll do it for you
You can export your data from AssetTiger. Getting it into a new system is the part that usually stops people — so we made that bit easy, and we will also just do it for you.

Common questions
Is AssetTiger still free?
No. As of 1 August 2026 the former free plan became a 30-day free trial, and from 31 August 2026 accounts that have not upgraded move to view-only access. Their paid plans start at $20/month for 500 assets.
What happens to my data in AssetTiger if I do not upgrade?
According to AssetTiger’s own notice, accounts that have not subscribed by 31 August 2026 move to view-only. Your records are still visible, but you cannot work with them as before. We would suggest exporting your data promptly either way — it is your data, and having a copy costs nothing.
Does Asset Giant have a free plan?
Yes. Free Forever holds up to 100 assets with one user, needs no credit card, and has no trial countdown. It is a smaller register than AssetTiger’s old free tier, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise — but it does not expire.
Can you import my AssetTiger data?
Yes. Export from AssetTiger and import the CSV yourself in minutes — you match your own columns and see a full preview before anything is saved. Or send us the file and we will do the whole thing by hand at no charge on any paid plan.
Is Asset Giant cheaper than AssetTiger?
At the entry tier they are close: AssetTiger Basic is $20/month for 500 assets; our Crew plan is £19/month for 500 assets and three users. The difference is what is included — AI identification, label design and printing, projects and consumables come as standard with us. At the very top of the range AssetTiger goes further than we do on raw asset counts.
