Two currencies on this page. The dollar figures are the other company’s own published prices. Ours are in pounds sterling, and pounds are what we charge: on 25 September 2026, £1 was about US$1.32. A card issued in any country works at checkout and your own bank converts it.

What actually changed

Until August 2026, AssetTiger offered a genuinely useful free tier: 250 assets and two users, with no time limit. It was the most generous free plan in this category, and we said so publicly.

That plan is gone. Existing free users were emailed at the end of July and moved onto a 30-day trial on 1 August, with an offer of $110 in “Rewards Cash” (credit against labels from MyAssetTag, AssetTiger’s parent company) and 50% off the first year of the Basic plan. On 31 August, accounts that had not subscribed became view-only — the data is still visible, but you cannot work with it.

It changes the question you are answering. You are no longer choosing between two free plans — you are deciding what to pay for, and where.

The short version

• We still have a free plan; they no longer do. Free Forever holds 100 assets, with no card and no countdown.
• £19/month for 500 assets and three users on our Crew plan, against $20/month for 500 assets on their Basic.
• Every one of our plans includes the AI — photo identification, spec auto-fill and the inventory assistant. Not a top-tier extra, not an add-on. AssetTiger has no AI at all.
• Every one of our plans prints your own QR labels — design them, batch-print them to standard sheets. AssetTiger does not offer a label designer; they sell you the labels instead.
• Consumables are included, where AssetTiger sells them as a separate $15/month product.
• We raise quotes and invoices; we found none in AssetTiger. Its only mention of an invoice is one you attach to an asset as a document.
• Both of us email you before a date passes. AssetTiger sends warranty, contract, maintenance and low-stock alerts with 30, 60 or 90-day lead times; we send reminders off a warranty, any date field you track, a booking or check-out due back and a reorder level, with a lead time you set per rule, to your team or up to ten outside addresses. Call it level.
• Both of us keep a maintenance record. AssetTiger schedules recurring maintenance by date or interval and logs each event with the date, the technician, the work done and the cost; we do the same and add the result that decides whether the job is finished, the certificate on that record, and a due-within filter on the inventory screen you already use. Call it level.
• They are still broader than us on reporting, custom field types and custom permission groups — see below.

Where AssetTiger is better than us

Plainly, because you will find this out anyway and it is better you hear it here.

• Reporting. They have a more advanced reporting system than ours, with a report builder and scheduled reports. We have exports and saved views today, and more advanced reporting is something we are actively working on.
• Custom fields. They offer fourteen field types, scopeable per category, including currency and GPS coordinates. We offer seven: text, long text, number, date, link, yes/no, and a list of options you write yourself.
• Permissions. Their security groups are granular down to individual operations. We ship five fixed roles — Owner, Admin, Member, Scanner, Viewer — which cover the cases a working firm actually has, but you cannot build your own combination the way you can there.
• Depreciation, contracts and insurance are first-class records in AssetTiger. We have chosen not to build those.

If those are the things you need, AssetTiger is a capable system and worth the subscription. We would rather tell you that than have you find out after switching.
