The comparison people actually make

At 500 assets, itemit’s Starter plan was £26.99 a month for one user when it was checked on 3 August 2026. Our Crew plan is £19 a month for 500 assets and three users. Same country, same currency, same asset ceiling — about 30% less for three times the people. Per head that is roughly £6.30 against £26.99.

The other difference at the front door is the free plan. itemit does not have one; they run a trial. Ours holds 100 assets, needs no card and does not expire, which matters mainly because it lets you take your time.

Everything else is closer than the price suggests, and the section further down on where itemit is better is not a formality.

What is different

• Three users instead of one, for less money. £19/month against £26.99, at the same 500-asset ceiling. Everyone on the team gets a login rather than sharing one.
• The AI works from a photograph. Photograph a tool and it is identified and specced for you to confirm. itemit’s published feature list includes AI text recognition, which is a different job — ours is cataloguing an item you have never typed in.
• You can print your own labels. A visual QR designer, batch printing to standard label sheets, and assignment of pre-printed stickers, on every plan.
• Bookings you can charge for. Both products let you book kit out. Ours carries hire rates, so a booking can become a priced line on a quote or an invoice — itemit’s booking module has no rates.
• Quotes and invoices in the box, with labour and delivery lines, your own headings and subtotals, and full UK VAT including the construction reverse charge.

When you should stay with itemit

They are a good UK company with a real product and there are things they do that we do not.

• You want RFID. itemit has an RFID and hardware tagging ecosystem. We have QR codes and barcodes and nothing else. If you need to read a shelf of tags from a metre away, that is them, not us.
• You need depreciation and formal audit records. Their published module list includes audit and depreciation. We have a full activity history but no depreciation schedules.
• You need the product in more than one language. They publish multilingual support. We are English only.
• UK, GBP and UK support are not a differentiator here. Both of us are UK companies billing in pounds — on that front there is genuinely nothing to choose between us.
