Switching from itemit

This is the cleanest like-for-like comparison we have: two UK companies, both billing in pounds, both selling asset tracking to firms with kit. Same asset ceiling, different price and a different number of people allowed on it.

The comparison people actually make

At 500 assets, itemit’s Starter plan was £26.99 a month for one user when it was checked on 3 August 2026. Our Crew plan is £19 a month for 500 assets and three users. Same country, same currency, same asset ceiling — about 30% less for three times the people. Per head that is roughly £6.30 against £26.99.

The other difference at the front door is the free plan. itemit does not have one; they run a trial. Ours holds 100 assets, needs no card and does not expire, which matters mainly because it lets you take your time.

Everything else is closer than the price suggests, and the section further down on where itemit is better is not a formality.

Moving across, in four steps

1. Export your items

Get your asset list and any custom fields out as a CSV and keep the file.

2. Open a free account

Free Forever holds 100 assets with no card and no trial countdown, so you can put real kit in and judge it without a clock running.

3. Import, or send it to us

Map your own columns and preview everything before it saves — or hand us the export and we will load it by hand, free, on any paid plan.

4. Keep or reprint your labels

Assign pre-printed stickers already on your kit, or design and batch-print new QR labels to standard sheets. Both are included.

What is different

When you should stay with itemit

They are a good UK company with a real product and there are things they do that we do not.

Send us the export and we’ll do the rest

Getting the data out of your current system is rarely the hard part. Getting it in somewhere else is what stops people — so we made that bit easy, and we will also just do it for you.

Our importer takes the file you already have, lets you match your own columns, and shows you a full preview before anything is saved. Or send us your export and we will import it by hand, free, on any paid plan — assets, locations, categories and clients. You don’t retype a single row.

Start free to look around first. If you subscribe, get in touch and we’ll move everything across.

This page is about moving. If you want the feature-by-feature detail, read Asset Giant vs itemit, or see the full side-by-side comparison against six systems at once. Every plan and price is on our pricing page. Other systems we have written up are on the alternatives index.

Common questions

Is Asset Giant cheaper than itemit?

At the entry tier, yes. itemit Starter was £26.99/month for one user and 500 assets when checked on 3 August 2026; our Crew plan is £19/month for 500 assets and three users. The gap widens with every person you add, because we price per company rather than per user.

Does itemit have a free plan?

No. As at 3 August 2026 itemit offered a trial rather than a free tier. Asset Giant’s Free Forever plan holds up to 100 assets with no card and no time limit.

Is Asset Giant a UK company?

Yes. Asset Giant is provided by Blueworkz Ltd, a UK company. We bill in pounds and our support is in the UK — as is itemit. There is nothing to choose between us on that.

Can you import my itemit data?

Yes. Export to CSV and import it yourself with column mapping and a full preview, or send us the file and we will load it by hand at no charge on any paid plan.
