Looking for a Sortly alternative?
Sortly popularised tracking inventory from a phone. If you have priced up what you actually need, though, the sums get uncomfortable quickly — and there is no AI in it at all.

What it costs once you are past the free tier
Sortly’s free plan holds 100 items with one user. Ours holds 100 assets too, so that is a level start.
The difference shows up when you outgrow it. Sortly’s Advanced plan lists at $49 a month for 500 items. Ours is £19 a month for 500 assets and three users. Further up, Sortly’s Premium plan lists at $299 a month for 5,000 items, where our Business plan is £79 a month for 5,000 assets and ten users.
You will see lower numbers on their pricing page — $24, $74, $149. Those are yearly-billed and, by their own footnote, a first-year discount for new customers: after year one it drops to 20% off. Compare against the list prices and you are comparing like with like.
The short version
- £79/month for 5,000 assets against Sortly’s $299/month list price for 5,000 items.
- £19/month for 500 assets and three users against $49/month list for 500 items.
- Every one of our plans includes the AI — photo identification, spec auto-fill and a plain-English inventory assistant. Sortly has no AI features.
- Every one of our plans prints your own QR labels — design them, batch-print them, assign pre-printed stickers.
- Both of us have a free plan, and ours has no trial clock on it either.
- Jobs, projects and clients are first-class, not capped as a numbered add-on.
Where we are genuinely better
AI on every plan — Sortly has none
Photograph a tool and Asset Giant identifies it, fills in the make, model and specifications, and drafts the record for you to approve. You can also ask your inventory questions in plain English. Sortly has no AI features at all, so every item is typed in by hand.
Dramatically cheaper as you grow
At the top of the small-business range the gap is stark: £79 a month for 5,000 assets and ten users, against a $299 list price for 5,000 items. Our price is flat per company rather than a per-item meter, so it does not climb quietly as your register fills up.
Full label design and printing
A visual QR label designer, a print queue for batch-printing to standard label sheets, and the option to assign pre-printed stickers to assets. Design your labels this afternoon and print them tonight, on every plan.
Jobs, projects and clients without a cap
Sortly’s plans limit how many concurrent jobs you can run. We treat projects, clients and locations as ordinary records — assign kit to a job, see what is on which site, and share a client-facing page showing only what you choose.
Where Sortly may suit you better
They have been at this a long time and it shows in places.
- Sortly’s visual, photo-led interface is genuinely well made, and if a purely visual catalogue is the whole of what you need, you will like it.
- They have a longer track record and a larger customer base than we do.
If you want the AI, the label printing and the job tracking without the price climbing, we would back ourselves.
