Shared equipment goes wrong at exactly one moment: when two people, separately and reasonably, promise the same thing to two different groups. Asset Giant puts every one of those promises on one calendar and checks it against what you actually own.

Visible to everyone, on any device
Book an item to a person, a group or a project for a window of dates and it is immediately visible to everyone else — on a desktop grid, or a proper mobile agenda view built for a phone rather than a shrunk-down desktop. Drag a booking to move it. See Asset Booking Calendar.
Because the calendar and the register are the same system, what is bookable is exactly what exists. Retire a machine and it stops appearing; add three more and they are bookable that afternoon.
It counts
If you own thirty tablets, thirty can be out at once and it is the thirty-first request that raises the clash. You are not making thirty calendar entries or inventing thirty fake records to make the arithmetic work. That single behaviour is why a shared Google Calendar stops being enough at about the second term.
Book the whole set
The Year 5 science practical, the away-match kit bag, the camp store, the stage lighting rig, the sound desk and its cables — build the set once as a list and book the whole thing against the dates in one action. See Lists & Kits. The same list is what you check it back against, so a missing microphone is found on the night rather than at the next rehearsal.

It fits round the diary you already keep
Bookings can be fed into the calendar you already live in, and reminders sent before something is due back — see Calendar Feeds & Reminders. Nobody has to check a second system to find out that the minibus is out on Thursday.
Vehicles are just assets that move further
The minibus, the trailer, the club van and what is loaded into them are tracked exactly like anything else — see Vehicle & Van Tracking. Which matters most on the morning of a fixture, when what you want to know is not where the minibus is but what is already in it.
And if the booking is a paid one
When you are hiring the hall, the pitch or a piece of equipment out to somebody else, the booking is also the start of an invoice. That is covered properly in Charging for lettings, hire and deposits.
Being straight about what this is not
There is no public self-service portal where a member logs in and books their own kit. Bookings are made by your team on behalf of whoever is borrowing. For a store run by a small number of people, that is usually the point — but if you need parents or members booking directly, it is not what this does.
